about ratih
I’m Indonesian, born in New Zealand, and raised in Minnesota, where my first-generation immigrant parents filled our home with music, dance, and, of course, food! Some of my favorite memories are from Muslim Indonesian community gatherings, where everyone brought dishes to share and left with ziplock bags of chicken satay, fragrant beef rendang, and sticky coconut desserts to savor later. Food has always been a way to connect, celebrate, and feel at home.
I’ve spent the last decade in nonprofit communications and coaching CrossFit, helping people feel stronger through fitness, food, and community. Fitness has taught me discipline, consistency, and the joy of doing hard things alongside others. Along the way, I realized just how much proper nutrition fuels not only performance but confidence and well-being.
I’ve been obsessed with food for as long as I can remember—from racing home to catch Rachael Ray after school, to cooking communal meals in college co-ops, where I learned to shop in bulk, cook for a crowd, and find fulfillment in feeding others.
ratiheats is my space to share what I’ve learned: high-protein recipes, reflections on movement and mindset, and simple habits to help you feel strong, grounded, and intentional. I write for everyday athletes who want to eat well and savor life.
kind words
"I have had the privilege of enjoying Ratih’s food, her joy, and her joy in food. As Cesar Chavez once said: The people who give you their food give you their heart."
